Autonomous Ground Systems
Winter is the first stop on the line — not the destination.
NLR builds autonomous platforms and field-data infrastructure for the environments that break conventional machines. We start where it's hardest — the Canadian winter — and run the line outward from there.
01 The Company
A robotics and autonomy company that happens to start in the snow.
Most autonomy is proven in fair weather. NLR runs the opposite route — snow, ice, low visibility, sub-zero duty cycles — because a system that holds up there generalizes everywhere else on the map.
Every machine we field is a sensor platform first. It maps terrain, logs conditions, and returns structured data that sharpens the next deployment. The robot clears the snow; the fleet builds the intelligence.
NLR is not a snow-removal company. We're a robotics and autonomy company whose first deployment environment happens to be winter operations.
By the Numbers
02 The Platform
Blackweaver. Built for the worst of it.
A low, tracked autonomous platform engineered for traction, endurance, and perception in deep winter. Eleven fused sensors, a sealed compute bay, and a modular front end that clears, senses, and maps — then hands the data back to the fleet.
Open the platform file →03 The Stack
Sense, decide, act, learn — every station on one line.
Eleven sensors, one fused world model
LiDAR, 4D radar, thermal, RGB, and RTK-GNSS fused to see through snow, whiteout, and the dark.
Winter-tuned planning & control
Friction-aware path planning, conservative behaviours, safe-stop, and remote supervision on exception.
Operations you can see and trust
Every unit streams position, health, traction, and task progress to one live operations layer.
The data flywheel
Each deployment trains the next. Field data becomes fleet-wide capability, shipped back over the air.
04 Applications
One platform, a widening route.
Winter operations
Autonomous clearing of lots, paths, and aprons — through snow, ice, and low visibility.
Infrastructure inspection
Repeatable, sensor-rich passes that build a time-series record of assets and corridors.
Mapping & surveying
Centimetre-grade 3D maps generated as a by-product of every shift.
05 Mission
Bring dependable autonomy to the places infrastructure forgets.
From snowbound municipal lots to remote energy corridors, NLR machines do the work that's too cold, too repetitive, or too remote — and turn every shift into data that makes the next one better.
